ALMOND RUSKS 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1/2 c. sour cream
1/2 tsp. almond flavoring
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. unblanched sliced or coarsely chopped almonds

Cream together butter, sugar, and salt. Stir in mix well the eggs, sour cream, and almond flavoring. Mix flour and soda together and stir in very well. Mix in almonds. Form into 2 long narrow high loaves on a greased cookie sheet or pat into narrow well greased bread pans. Bake 45 minutes at 300 degrees. Remove from oven and cut into 1/2 inch slices (electric or surated knife works best). Arrange slices on 2 cookie sheets and bake at 200 degrees, turning once, until light golden brown, 45-55 minutes longer. Remove to cooling rack. For variation, use vanilla with walnuts.
