JELLO SHERBET | |
1 pkg. gelatin (any flavor) 1 c. boiling water 1 1/2 c. sugar 4 c. milk 3 tbsp. lemon juice Dissolve the gelatin in the hot water. Add sugar, lemon juice, and milk; mix well and freeze in refrigerator trays until firm. Break into chunks; put in chilled bowl and rebeat until smooth and creamy, an electric beater or processor is best. Put back in refrigerator until firm. Variations: Make this into a diet sherbet by using sweeteners rather than sugar, or use part sugar and part sweetener. Fresh Fruit Sherbets: Add 2 cups fresh fruit puree and freeze. Match up the fresh fruit with the gelatin flavors when they are available. They can also be mixed flavors such as strawberry gelatin with mashed bananas. Fresh pineapple must be cooked before adding to the gelatin! |
