BONNIE'S HOT TAMALE PIE 
White corn meal
1 lb. ground beef
1 med. onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 can chopped green chilies
1 can tomato paste
1 c. water
Chili powder

Mix white corn meal, salt, and boiling water as if making hot water cornbread. Make enough to thickly cover the bottom and sides of your casserole dish, also to cover the top of the pie. Brown ground beef with onion and garlic. Add green chilies, tomato paste and water. Add chili powder, salt and pepper to taste. Pat corn meal mixture onto the bottom and sides of a well-oiled large casserole dish. Leave enough to seal the top of the pie. Pour meat mixture into center of corn meal. Spoon remaining corn meal mix on top of pie. Wet your fingers and smooth corn meal mix until the meat is completely encased in corn meal. Coat the top of the pie with a small amount of oil. Bake in 350 degree oven till corn meal is browned. Slice and serve with catsup and hot sauce if desired.
