SWEET & SOUR PORK | |
1 lb. pork butt 1/4 tsp. MSG 2 tbsp. cornstarch 1 green pepper in 1" chunks 1 lg. tomato wedged 1/4 c. white wine vinegar 1/4 c. pineapple juice 1 egg 1 tsp. soy sauce Salt Cracker meal 3/4 c. pineapple chunks 6 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 2 dashes Tabasco sauce Vegetable or peanut oil 1/2 c. tomato sauce Dice pork 1 inch square. Prepare mixture of egg, salt, MSG, soy sauce and cornstarch. Dip pork in egg mixture, roll in cracker meal. Let stand until coating dries (10 minutes) before cooking. Deep fry at 350 degrees for 10 minutes until thoroughly cooked. Prepare S & S Sauce by combining vinegar, catsup, juice, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, pinch of salt and Tabasco sauce in small pan. Bring to boil before adding green pepper and cook 30 seconds. Add 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water, then tomato wedges, pineapple chunks and pork cubes. Stir and cook quickly for 15 seconds until sauce is evenly mixed. Note: Sliced carrots are also good added in. |
