POUND CAKE 
1 c. shortening (use 1/2 Crisco & 1/2 butter)
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
3 c. flour (1 c. self-rising, 2 c. plain flour)
1 c. milk
2 tsp. lemon flavoring or flavoring of your choice

Cream butter, sugar and Crisco well. Add unbeaten eggs one at a time. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk and flavoring. Mix and bake in a greased and floured tube or Bundt pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes or longer.

ICING OR SAUCE FOR POUND CAKE:

1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. water
1 tsp. coconut or lemon flavoring

Heat to a boil, brush on hot cake with a pastry brush.
