RED VELVET POUND CAKE 
3 c. sugar
5 eggs
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 oz. red food coloring
1 1/2 c. vegetable shortening
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 c. milk
1/4 tsp. almond flavoring

Put shortening in mixing bowl. Add 1 cup of sugar gradually, mixing as you add. Add remaining sugar and mix well until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla, salt, and food coloring. Add flour, milk alternately beginning and ending with flour. Bake 1 1/2 hours at 325 degrees in tube pan.

ICING:

1 stick butter
1 box confectioners sugar
3 oz. cream cheese
3 tsp. milk

Mix together well.
