MOLASSES COOKIES 
3/4 c. melted shortening (not butter)
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses (dark)
1 egg
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon

Melt shortening; cool, add sugar, molasses and egg. Beat well. Sift dry ingredients, add to first mixture. Shape into balls the size of walnuts. Roll in granulated sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Grease cookie sheets.
