RED CABBAGE SIDE DISH 
Coarsely cut head cabbage
4-5 slices bacon
1/3 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. vinegar
3 unpeeled apples
1/2 c. water
1 sm. onion, chopped
Salt and pepper

Fry bacon. Save grease to use with this recipe. Place the rest in pot with grease. Cook to tender and add salt and pepper. Cover while cooking. Stir bacon in last. Makes a kind of sweet and sour taste.
