WILTED LETTUCE SALAD 
Pick nice fresh lettuce. Wash and chop about 4 cups into a big bowl. Fry 5 slices bacon; drain. In the hot drippings, add about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon sugar, and 2 tablespoons vinegar. Stir; heat and pour over lettuce. Toss lightly to coat. Crumble bacon on top.
