GERMAN MARBLE CAKE 
2 sticks butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. flour
2 1/2 - 3 tsp. baking powder
Milk, just enough to make thick dough (about 1 c.)
1 1/4 c. sugar
3-4 eggs
Lemon skin (grated), to taste
1 c. cornstarch

Cream butter; add sugar, vanilla, eggs and lemon. Beat well. Sift flour, cornstarch and baking powder. Add to eggs slowly with milk, beating well. Make dough thick. Take 1/3 dough and add either cocoa or chocolate, sugar and small amount of milk. Place dough in bottom of pan, first light dough, then chocolate dough and finish with light on top. Take table knife and swirl around. Bake at 350 to 380 degrees for about 1 hour. Don't open oven for at least 1/2 hour. Use a tube pan.
