ALMOND PUFF PASTRY 
STEP 1:
1/2 c. soft butter
1 c. plain flour
2 tbsp. water

Cut butter into flour. Add water and mix well. On ungreased baking sheet pat out to a 12"x6" strip.

STEP 2:
1/2 c. butter
1 c. water
1 tsp. almond extract
1 c. flour
3 eggs

Heat butter and water to a boil. Remove from heat and quickly stir in almond extract and flour. Stir over low heat until mixture forms a ball (approximately 1 minute). Remove from heat. Beat in eggs, all at once. Beat until smooth. Spread evenly over, cover completely, will be thick. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Cool.

STEP 3:
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
2 tbsp. soft butter
1 tsp. almond extract
1 tbsp. water
Slivered almonds

Mix first 4 ingredients. Frost pastry and sprinkle with almonds. Cut edges off for nice appearance. Cut into 1" squares. Refrigerate before serving. Freezes beautifully.
