BEEF ORIENTAL | |
2 tbsp. oil 1 lb. sirloin tip, cut in 1/4 inch strips 1/3 c. soy sauce 1/3 c. water 1 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. monosodium glutamate (optional) 2 c. 3/4 inch bias cut celery 2 c. 1/4 inch bias cut onions 1 bell pepper, cut in 1/4 inch strips 2 (5 oz.) cans water chestnuts, drained and sliced 1 (6 oz.) can sliced mushrooms Cook meat briskly in oil, 1 or 2 minutes. Add soy sauce, water, sugar, and monosodium glutamate. Bring to a boil, add celery, onion, peppers and cook over high heat 3 minutes. Add chestnuts and mushrooms and cook 2 more minutes. Thicken with 1 tablespoon cornstarch in 2 tablespoons cold water. Serve over boiled rice. |
