MOM'S SCHOOL MOLASSES COOKIES 
2 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. cloves
1/8 tsp. allspice
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. molasses
1 tbsp. vinegar and enough sweet milk to make 1/2 c.
1 egg

Sift flour, soda, salt and spices together. Cream shortening until fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Beat in molasses. Combine vinegar and milk; add alternately with dry ingredients and stir until well blended. Chill.

Roll about 1/4 inch thick on floured board. Cut into desired shapes. Bake on cookie sheet at 375 degrees for about 12 minutes.
