BEEF STEW 57 
1 1/2 lbs. cubed boneless beef
1 tsp. salt
Dash pepper
1/2 tsp. sugar
2 tbsp. shortening
2 c. water
2 beef bouillon cubes
3 tbsp. Heinz 57 sauce
1/2 c. thinly sliced celery
2 potatoes, cut in eighths
2 onions, quartered
3 carrots, cut into 1 inch slices

Sprinkle meat with salt, pepper and sugar. Brown well in shortening. Add water and bouillon cubes. Cover. Simmer 1 hour or until meat is almost tender. Add 57 sauce and remaining ingredients. Cover. Simmer 1 hour or until vegetables are tender. Stew may be thickened with flour-water mixture, if desired. Serves 6.
