6 med. sweet potatoes
1 c. boiling water
Salt to taste
1/2 c. sugar, brown or white
4 tbsp. butter
1 to 1 1/2 c. marshmallows, if desired

Pare and slice sweet potatoes. Make a syrup of remaining ingredients, except marshmallows. Put potatoes in shallow baking dish and pour syrup on top. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. Put marshmallows on top and let brown last few minutes. 6 servings.
