2 lbs. navy beans 2 1/2 c. brown sugar 3/4 c. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 12 oz. bacon (no need to fry, just cut up) Soak beans at least 6 hours in cold water. Boil and simmer a total of 30 minutes. Skim off foam. Rinse good with cold water. Put all ingredients on top of beans (do not stir in). Add 3 1/2 cups water. Bake at least 6 hours (up to 8 hours) at 250 to 275 degrees. |
