1 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar, packed
2 eggs, separated
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. maple flavoring
2 c. flour
1/2 c. finely chopped or ground nuts
Various surprises: whole nuts, raisins, M & M's, gum drops, cherries, etc.

Blend butter, sugar, egg yolks and flavorings. Add flour and mix well. Chill 1/2 hour. Roll 1 teaspoon of dough around the hidden surprise of your choice to make a 1 inch ball. Dip in slightly beaten egg whites, roll in nuts. Place 1 inch apart on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 5-7 minutes. Fun for parties.
