MICROWAVE PLAYDOUGH
2 c. flour
4 tbsp. cream of tartar
4 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 c. salt
2 c. water
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. food coloring, optional

Mix all of the dry ingredients in an 8 cup measure or a 2 quart casserole. If using the food coloring, add it to the water. Stir the water and the oil into the dry ingredients stirring until smooth.

Cook on high for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring well, (break up lumps), every 2 minutes, until the playdough clings to the spoon and is no longer sticky. When it is cooked enough, it will be pliable and soft, but not sticky.

Turn out onto a plate and cool for a few minutes. Knead it for a minute or two until it is smooth. Store it in a tightly covered plastic container. Refrigeration is not necessary.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
