1 1/4 c. soft butter
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
3/4 c. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. chocolate chips

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, beat well. Combine flour, cocoa, soda, and salt; gradually blend into creamed mixture. Stir in chips. Drop by teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 9 minutes. (Do not over bake!) Cookies will be soft. They puff while baking, flatten while cooling. Cool slightly, then remove from sheet.
