PLAIN CUSTARD 
2 beaten eggs
1/4 c. sugar
2 c. hot milk
Pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Nutmeg

Add sugar to beaten eggs. Add hot milk slowly, then salt and vanilla. Stir to dissolve sugar. Pour into 1 1/2 quart baking dish or 6 custard cups. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Place baking dish in pan of hot water. Bake at 300-325 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until knife inserted comes out clean.
