GRANDMA'S MOLASSES COOKIES 
1 c. baking molasses
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
1 egg
1 tbsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1/2 c. hot water
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. salt
4 c. flour

Cream shortening; add sugar and cream thoroughly. Add beaten egg, molasses, and baking soda in water and blend thoroughly. Add flour, sifted together with spices. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees.
