GRANDMA'S MOLASSES COOKIES | |
1 c. molasses 1/2 lb. shortening 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. ginger 1/2 tsp. cinnamon Mix well. Dissolve 2/3 tsp. baking soda in 1/2 cup boiling water. Use cup that molasses was measured in, then add to above mixture. Add 4 cups sifted flour (more if needed) and knead well. Refrigerate for at least one hour. May be kept in refrigerator a few days if desired. Use confectioners' sugar to roll out instead of flour. Roll out 1/4 to 1/3 inch thick and cut out cookies. Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 8-9 minutes. |
