STUFFED GREEN PEPPERS | |
6 lg. green peppers 3/4 lb. hamburger 4 tbsp. minced onion 2 tbsp. salad oil 3 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 1 tsp. sage 2 tsp A-1 sauce 3 c. boiled white rice 1 1/2 c. can tomatoes 1/2 c. soft bread crumbs 2 tbsp. melted butter Wash pepper and cut a small slice from the stem end. Remove seed. Cover with boiling salted water and simmer for 5 minutes. Drain. Cook hamburger meat and onions in salad oil for 5 minutes or until done. Add salt, pepper, sage, A-1 sauce, rice and tomatoes. Combine thoroughly. Stuff peppers with this mixture and top with bread crumbs which have been combined with butter. Arrange pepper upright in a greased baking dish and bake in 375 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until tender and brown on top. |
