BANANA CAKE 
3/4 c. Crisco
2 1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
3 c. flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. milk
1 1/2 c. mashed banana
1 tsp. baking powder

Cream sugar, shortening, vanilla and eggs; set aside. Sift flour, then measure. Add baking soda, salt and baking powder (all dry ingredients); sift again. Add all to creamed mixture and beat gradually then it will be stiff, then add milk and banana. Grease and flour pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Can add 1/2 to 1 cup nuts.

ICING:

5 tbsp. flour
1 c. milk
1 c. Crisco
3/4 c. sugar

Put flour and milk in a large kettle. Cook on stove, stirring continuously until milk is all cooked dry. Take off stove, not smooth if not right; let cool. Put Crisco in after cooled. Add sugar and beat with electric beater until good and thick. Can slice banana on top of cake before icing.
