CHOCOLATE CHIP - PECAN COOKIES 
1 c. shortening (or 3/4 c. butter)
1 c. light brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/4 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
12 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped pecans

Cream the shortening with brown sugar, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add the eggs and beat well. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and finely chopped pecans.

Roll into balls and slightly flatten them on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes until light brown. Cool before removing from pan. Makes about 6 dozen.
