1 c. butter or other shortening
1 c. sweet milk
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
3 c. plain flour
4 lg. eggs
Pinch of salt

Cream butter until it is light. Add sugar a little at a time creaming after each addition. Sift flour, salt, and baking powder 3 times. Add eggs one at a time beating after each one. Add flour and milk alternately. May bake in a tube pan at 325 degrees for 1 hour or may bake in a sheet cake pan or make a layer cake. Is good for coconut or chocolate cakes. You may use any filling you choose.
