HERBED RICE 
1 lg. onion, chopped
1 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. dried whole basil
1/4 tsp. dried whole thyme
3 c. hot water
1 1/2 c. uncooked regular rice
3/4 c. minced fresh parsley
1 1/2 tsp. onion salt

Combine onion, butter, basil and thyme in a 3 quart casserole. Cover with heavy duty plastic wrap and microwave on high for 3 minutes or until onion is tender. Stir in remaining ingredients, cover and microwave on high for 5 minutes. Reduce to medium (50 % power) and microwave for 20 to 23 minutes, or until liquid is absorbed. Let stand for 4 to 5 minutes. Fluff rice with a fork. Yield: 6 servings.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
