ITALIAN SAUSAGE WITH PEPPERS 
2 lbs. hot or sweet Italian sausage
3 green peppers, coarsely chopped
1 lg. onion, peeled and chopped
1 (8 oz.) can mushrooms, undrained
1/2 tsp. basil
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes, chopped
Iodized salt and pepper to taste

Bake sausage in 375 degree oven, covered, for 50 minutes.

Saute green peppers and onion in some of the sausage drippings for 5 to 10 minutes. Don't over cook.

In a heavy 4 quart kettle, heat tomatoes along with pepper-onion mixture. Add more of sausage drippings and salt and pepper if desired. Simmer for 15 minutes. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
