JEWISH APPLE CAKE 
FILLING:

5 lg. apples
2 tsp. cinnamon
5 tbsp. sugar

Peel and slice apples and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Set aside. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a tube pan.

BATTER:

3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1 c. oil
4 eggs
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
Juice of 1 orange or 1/4 c. orange juice
2 1/2 tsp. vanilla (optional)

Measure flour, sugar, oil, eggs, baking powder, juice, and vanilla into bowl and mix well. Put half the cake batter in the pan and cover with half the apple mixture. Add remaining batter and top with remaining apples. Bake about 1 3/4 hours or until done.
