CHOPPED RAW APPLE CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. chopped peeled apples
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. nuts
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream shortening and sugar. Add well beaten eggs. Sift dry ingredients, add to creamed mixture. Fold in apples, nuts and vanilla. Bake at 350 degrees for first 25 minutes. Add topping and bake 25 minutes longer.

TOPPING:

2 tbsp. milk
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
5 tbsp. butter

Spread over cake at the end of first 25 minutes, return to oven for 25 minutes longer. Bake in 9 x 13 inch pan.
