JACK HORNER CAKE 
1 c. cut up prunes
1 c. boiling water
2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. cooking oil
1 tsp. each cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves
3 eggs
1 c. chopped nuts

Pour boiling water over prunes. Let stand 2 hours. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Sift dry ingredients together. Add prune mixture and rest of ingredients. Blend thoroughly. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan. Frost cake with confectioners' sugar icing. Sprinkle with nuts. Fresh lemon frosting is very good.
