2 c. sugar 1/2 c. Crisco shortening 2 eggs Cream together. Sift: 4 c. flour 2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. cocoa Add: 1 c. sour milk 3/4 c. boiling water 1 tsp. vanilla Beat well, drop by tablespoons on ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 5 minutes at 450 degrees. Cool thoroughly. Put together with cream filling. Filling: Boil together until thick 5 tablespoons flour and 1 cup milk. Chill. Cream 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup Crisco, 1 cup powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Add the chilled flour mixture and beat until consistency of whipped cream. I put about 1/8 teaspoon salt. |
