SANDWICH SPREAD | |
4 red peppers, ground 4 green peppers, ground 1 qt. ground green tomatoes 4-6 eggs 1 1/2 c. white sugar 1 c. vinegar 4 rounded tbsp. flour 4 tbsp. mustard 2 tbsp. salt 1 c. sour cream 1 dozen med. sweet pickles, ground Boil in 1 cup water the peppers and ground tomatoes. Drain. Mix sugar, flour and salt. Add vinegar slowly. Beat eggs and add to the mixture. Mix well and boil 5 minutes. Mix peppers and tomatoes with all other ingredients, except pickles. Cook for 10 minutes, then add pickles. Simmer until hot again, then pack in hot sterilized jars and seal. Makes 6 pints. |
