APPLE PIE | |
6 oz. can frozen unsweetened apple juice concentrate, thawed and undiluted 2 tbsp. flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 6 c. peeled, sliced apples 9-inch pie crust, unbaked (made of shortening) Mix juice, flour, and cinnamon together; cook until thickened and clear. Add apples and mix well. Pour into pie crust. Bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes. Reduce to 350 degree oven and bake 35 minutes (may cover with foil last 15 minutes). Or bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes with crumb topping. Yield: 8 slices. Exchange: 1 slice = 1 starch, 1 fat and 2 fruits. 225 calories. CRUMB TOPPING: 1/3 c. rolled oats 1/4 c. brown sugar 2 tbsp. chopped nuts 2 tbsp. graham cracker crumbs 2-3 tbsp. juice 1/3 c. flour 1/8 tsp. salt Mix together. Spread over pie. |
