DATE AND NUT CAKE 
1 c. butter or shortening
1 c. brown sugar
3 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. cake flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 lb. chopped dates
1 c. chopped nuts

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Add sifted, dry ingredients, dates and nuts. Bake in 350 degree oven for 1 hour. Bake in 10 inch greased and floured pan.
