WHOLE GRAIN CRUNCH COOKIES 
3/4 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 c. Quaker Oats (quick or old fashioned) (uncooked)
3/4 c. wheat germ
1/2 c. nuts, chopped

Beat together butter, sugars, egg, milk and vanilla. Add combined flour, salt and baking soda. Mix well. Stir in oats, wheat germ and nuts. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake in preheated moderate oven (375 degrees), 10 to 12 minutes, or until light golden brown. Makes about 4 1/2 dozen cookies. Or you can make about 100 cookies if you round out 1/2 of ordinary teaspoon; bake about 8 minutes.

Variations for this recipe are as follows:

Substitute 1 cup unprocessed bran or bran cereal for wheat germ.

Substitute 1/2 cup sunflower seeds for nuts; add 1/2 cup raisins.

Substitute 1 cup raisins for nuts.

Substitute 1/2 cup shredded or flaked coconut for nuts.

OR: Add 1/2 cup chopped dates, dried apricots or prunes.
