GERMAN SAUSAGE HOTDISH | |
1 1/2 - 2 lb. German link sausage 3 - 4 med. potatoes, chunked 1 sm. onion, chopped 1 tbsp. A-1 steak sauce 1/2 tsp. black pepper 2+ c. water 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp. Kitchen Bouquet DO NOT ADD SALT! In large deep skillet or electric skillet brown sausage that you have cut into "coins." Remove cooked sausage and drain excess grease. Add 1 cup water to hot skillet and stir to incorporate any nice brown drippings in the skillet. Return sausage and turn heat up to MEDIUM adding vegetables. Mix seasonings in another cup of water and pour over vegetables. Cover with enough additional for vegetables to simmer until tender. Add more water to skillet, if necessary. Stir well to blend seasonings. To serve, you may either treat it as a stew and serve it all in one bowl, or separately serve vegetables/meat and any leftover liquids (thickened) as gravy. Great with a crusty bread on the side and fresh fruit for dessert. Serves 4 - 6. |
