REAL POUND CAKE 
1 lb. butter
3 1/2 c. sugar
4 c. cake flour
10 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, 2 at a time, alternating with dry ingredients, mixing well after each addition. End with eggs. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 1/2 hours, starting with a cold oven.

Bake at 300 degrees for 1 12/ hours, starting with a cold oven. Makes a high cake and it has never failed through 4 generations of cooks. (Needs no baking powder.) My great-grandmother's recipe.
