STRETCHED OUT COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
1 egg
2 tsp. baking soda
4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. milk
1 c. chopped raisins
1 c. chopped walnuts (or other nut meats)

Flour enough to make a stiff dough that will handle easily, about 7 cups.

Cream shortening, add the sugar gradually and cream well. Add the well beaten egg. Sift the dry ingredients together and add alternately with the milk. Add raisins and nuts, mixing well. The dough should be stiff enough to handle easily. The dough should be stiff enough to handle easily. Use more flour. Form a roll from part of the dough, the length of the pan you are using. Pat or stretch out dough to about 1/2" thickness. This should make a strip about 3" wide and the length of the pan. Repeat until pan is filled. Bake at 305 degrees about 15 minutes. Cut strips into size cookies desired.
