SUPER CHIP COOKIE
1/2 c (1 stick) butter, softened
1/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 c. white sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/3 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 pkg. (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 inch round pizza-style pan. In large bowl, measure butter and sugars. With mixer at high speed, cream butter mixture until light and fluffy, occasionally scraping bowl with spatula. Next, beat in egg until well blended. Beat in vanilla. Reduce speed to low and gradually beat in flour, baking soda, and salt until well mixed. With wooden spoon, fold in chocolate morsels and nuts. With rubber spatula, spread dough to edge of pan. Be sure to uniformly distribute dough throughout pan; otherwise, some parts will be too chewy (undercooked), and others too dry and brittle (overcooked). Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. The cookie is done when it feels set and dry to the touch. Remove from oven and let cool in pan. After it is completely cooled, cut into wedges. Makes 16 wedges.
