CORN BREAD (RUSK) 
1 egg
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. sour milk or yogurt
1 c. white flour, sifted
1 c. corn meal or flour
1 tsp. baking soda
Pinch of salt

Cream shortening, add sugar and egg, mix. Mix flours, soda, and salt alternately with milk to creamed mixture. Bake at 350 degrees in an 8 inch greased pan for 30 minutes.
