SEVEN LAYER SALAD 
1/2 head lettuce, shredded
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/2 c. chopped green (or red) pepper
3/4 c. chopped onion
1 can drained green peas, cooked but cold
1 c. mayonnaise
1 tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 c. bacon bits (or real bacon)

In large salad bowl arrange first 5 ingredients in layers. Spread mayonnaise evenly over peas. Sprinkle with sugar, then the cheese. Cover and refrigerate 4 hours or overnight. Just before serving, sprinkle with bacon bits. Makes 6 servings.
