OLD FASHIONED STACK CAKE 
4 c. sifted flour
1 c. sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. butter
2 tsp. vanilla

FILLING:

1 lb. dried apples
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. allspice

Sift flour into large bowl. Add remaining ingredients. Divide the dough into 6 parts. Roll out on floured board to fill 9" pan. Bake at 450 degrees until brown.

FILLING: Wash apples. Cook and mash. Add sugar and spices. Alternately stack cake layers and apple mixture. This cake is better if it sets a day or two before cutting.
