RED CAKE 
2 (1 oz.) red food coloring
3 tbsp. Nestle's Quick cocoa
1/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
2 1/4 c. cake flour
Pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. baking soda

Mix red food coloring and Nestle's Quick cocoa and set aside. Cream Crisco and sugar, then add eggs. Add coloring paste and mix with creamed mixture. Add 1 cup buttermilk then add 2 1/4 cups cake flour and a pinch of salt. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Remove from mixture and add 1 tablespoon vinegar mixed with 1 teaspoon baking soda (fold this in by hand). Bake in well greased and floured 8 inch cake pans at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.

FROSTING:

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. Crisco
1 c. granulated sugar
3 tbsp. flour
2/3 c. milk
Flavoring

Cream butter, Crisco, sugar, and flour. Add milk and flavoring. Beat well until fluffy and creamy.
