STEW IN OVEN 
2 lbs. stewing beef
4 med. onions, quartered
1/2 c. celery
4 to 6 potatoes
3 lg. carrots
1 c. peas or other vegetable
1/2 c. water
1 can tomato soup
1 can celery or mushroom soup
1 bay leaf
Salt & pepper to taste
Marjoram, thyme, rosemary

Put in roasting pan. Cover and bake at 275 degrees for 5 1/2 hours; 300 degrees for 3 hours; 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Remove bay leaves and add dumplings if desired. Makes 5 servings.
