WHITE BREAD LOAF BREAD 
2 pkgs. dry yeast
2 c. lukewarm milk, scalded, then cooled
3 tbsp. sugar
3 tbsp. shortening, butter, or butter, softened
1 tbsp. salt
3/4 c. warm water
7 to 8 c. flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water in large bowl; stir in milk, sugar, shortening, salt, and 4 cups of the flour. Beat until smooth, then mix in enough remaining flour to make dough easy to handle. Turn dough onto lightly floured pastry sheet. Knead until smooth, about 10 minutes. Place in greased bowl, turn greased side up. Cover and let rise 1 hour. Heat oven to 425 degrees and bake 25 to 30 minutes.
