TEXAS CHILI "GULF COAST STYLE" | |
Jalapeno peppers Hamburger meat on the lean side Pinto beans Cumin Ground cayenne pepper Chili powder Red pepper flakes Tomato sauce Tomato paste Tomato puree Mexican style stewed tomatoes (or standard style or the plain canned tomatoes) Worcestershire sauce Heinz 57 sauce Onion Garlic Onion salt Garlic salt Onion powder Garlic powder Celery Bell pepper Black pepper Seasoning salt All seasoning is to your own taste. Cook beans. When 1/4 cooked, add all ingredients to taste except meat. Cook meat, drain off excess fat. Add to chili when beans are half cooked. Add water as necessary, don't let it get too thin. Mashed cooked beans (a few) will help thicken or corn flour. Stir to avoid sticking. A large pot takes an average of 6 hours to cook. Better when it sets overnight. |
