GREEN BEANS WITH ALMONDS 
3 (15 oz. ea.) cans green beans, drained and rinsed
2 cubes beef bouillon
2 cups water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup chopped onions (optional)
salt and pepper, to taste
3/4 cup sliced or slivered almonds, toasted (see note below)

In a large pan, combine beans, bouillon cubes, water, oil and onions (if desired). Bring to a boil on the stove and cook on low heat for 1 hour. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Add almonds during last 15 minutes of cooking or use almonds as a garnish when served.

Toasted almonds: Spread almonds in a single layer on a baking sheet and toast in a 350°F oven until fragrant and brown, 3 to 5 minutes. Shake pan once or twice so they toast evenly.

Makes 8 to 12 servings.
