SWEDISH CHRISTMAS GINGER COOKIES 
1 c. light molasses
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1 c. shortening (part butter)
2 eggs, beaten
4 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon

Bring molasses and brown sugar to a boil in saucepan and pour over shortening in bowl. Stir until cool. Add eggs and mix, add blended dry ingredients, blending until smooth dough. Chill overnight. Roll out very thin on board and cut out. Put on cookie sheet. Sprinkle with sugar or colored sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for about 8 minutes. Can be decorated with frosting made with confectioner's sugar, egg white and a few drops of vinegar. Makes about 30 large cookies or 6 dozen small.
