FRIED RICE | |
2 c. uncooked rice 1/2 of a Jimmy Dean pork sausage or substitute with chopped pork 1 bunch green onions cut up into 1 inch pieces 1 lg. or 2 med. onions cut up into 1/2 inch pieces 2 scrambled eggs Seasoning packet or use celery salt, pepper, sage, and Wyler's instant chicken flavor Sm. piece of ham or other ham substitute cut up Step I: Wash and rinse rice. Cover rice with 1 inch of water for every inch of rice. Cook until start to boil; reduce heat to very low and let simmer until rice is soft. Use a 2 quart saucepan. Step II: Fry cut up onion and green onions; add in ham after onion is nearly done. Use large fry pan. Step III: Fry sausage in a separate pan. Drain grease and add to sausage, onion, and ham in larger pan. Step IV: Pour scrambled egg into fry pan and fry until it becomes one piece. Turn over and fry other side. Remove and cut into strips 1/8 inch wide by 2 inches long. Also add this to other ingredients. Step V: Remove cooked rice from stove and spread it over other ingredients in large skillet. Shake soy sauce and seasoning packet (or other seasoning) over rice to taste and then mix together. Fry until heated through. Note: If using fried rice seasoning packet, do not use entire packet. Use only desired amount to taste. |
